The goodbye post

D-1... the big move back to Scotland is happening tomorrow. The cats were dropped off at the Continental airlines cargo area yesterday and made it safely to London. Our furniture left on Tuesday.

So it's goodbye to...

An American experience-part 2

Not sure if any of my readers guessed correctly, so here is what I did a few days ago with 2 friends... We headed to the Top Gun shooting range one Friday evening...



...for a 'ladies only' firearm introduction class... This is the gun I hired there, a 38mm, with ammo:



After about 90 minutes with an instructor in a classroom, with topics such as gun safety, handling, positioning, how to load the gun etc, we were given ear protection and headed to the range itself.





The whole experience was a real eye-opener. Let me reassure you, I have no intention whatsoever to get a gun, but now I know what it feels like to fire one (and a pretty powerful one, too).

An American experience - part 1

There were two things I wanted to do before moving back to Scotland. The first was to watch a game of basket ball at the Toyota Center, downtown Houston. The proper NBA season has not started yet, but there are a few pre-games being played, so we booked tickets to see the Houston Rockets against the Indiana Pacers. Well worth it! We had pretty good seats, very high up, but with a good view of the playing area. The atmosphere was very festive, with pom-pom girls, music (during play), mascot, a commentator with a really weird voice, and mad supporters shouting... And as baby was with her babysitter we went out for dinner after the game :-)
