Rain on a Subaru and a day in Scarborough

Well, this blog does need a new entry, but as nothing much happened last week it had to wait until we actually did something remotely interesting!

Saturday saw us heading towards the local Subaru garage (hehe, guess whose idea this was!) to have a look at the Forester. (see here to see what it looks like: http://images.autobytel.com/cyber/169100/i260763A_1.jpg) We got to test drive the 2.5 turbo version and we really liked it. It's fast, spacious, comfortable and has nice touches like cruise control and heated leather seats. Anyway, I'd better start playing the lottery!

After that we went back the long way, through the Yorkshire Dales national Park, and despite the rain it was absolutely beautiful, with the tiny villages dooted along the road and the lush, green hills.

On Sunday we drove to Scarborough, where Hugh used to go on holiday as a kid. So I heard about his Dad's chess competition, the dingy flat they once ended up staying at and the walks along the sea front in bad weather, when the waves were so high you had to run to avoid getting wet. As for us, we did get wet, as it was raining again, but I still got a feel for the place. We had fresh prawns on the sea-front, saw the donkeys on the beach and the amusement park. We had an early dinner in a pub (complete with a piece of chocolate fudge cake) before driving Hugh back to Darlo.
