First of all there's the Galleria, a huge shopping mall about 10 minutes' walk from our temporary accomodation. Nice to look at, but most of the shops are pricey (there's a Tiffany and a Cartier!). The Galleria also contains the 'Cheesecake Factory' restaurant we have already tried, as well as many other restaurants and an ice rink on the basement level:
Inside the Galleria there are several department stores, including one called Nordstrom, where, the ambience music is not provided by cds, but by a real pianist playing a real grand piano by the staircase! Because of where she is place you can hear the music pretty much evrywhere in the shop...
For food shopping, we have already tried several supermarkets: Wal-mart (huge but nothing of very great quality), Randalls (lovely cakes, yummy!) and Wholefoods (mostly organic products, very expensive!). But the best is without a doubt the one I tried yesterday, Central Market. It is a supermarket, but everything in it is presented as though it was separate shops: the fruit and veg, then the fishmonger, then the bakery, then the deli etc. Things are amazingly well presented and they have a huge choice of excellent products, including a very big display of imported cheeses. I even found some Cantal cheese for Hugh! I bought shark steaks too (delicious) and little potato souffles with Boursin cheese to go with them. It was all very good, if a bit pricey!Part of the bakery:

J'en reviens pas ! Une patinoire dans un centre commercial ! Je trouve ça sympa la musique d'ambiance jouée par une vraie pianiste. J'espère que tu m'y emmènera, rien que pour mater les vitrines de Cartier et Tiffany (ça peut toujours servir). Par contre, non, non, non ! Le cheddar,ce n'est pas du fromage ! Vive le camembert !
Ok, the part that just grabbed me were the shark steaks!! Shark steaks? I have never seen or heard of them as being something that you could find in most places...let alone Texas! I hope you post on how you cooked them. :-)

That Central Market sounds interesting. It looks like you will be able to buy fresh bread and yes, cheese.
