We did do a Thanksgiving thing today though, as we went to the parade in downtown. We arrived half-way through it, but still got a good taste of what these things are like here in the US. Here are a few images of it (sorry photos aren't great as it was really busy, and, unlike many in the audience, we didn't have the back of a pick-up truck to sit in or the roof of a big van to sit on!!)...
Of course they have to have bagpipes somewhere...

After the parade we took a walk downtown to look at the architecture, and Hugh also took me to this sculpture, which he had seen before already... so here he is posing with the man himself (a special photo for J&B!! ;-)):

Love it! Looks like the parade was really quite fun too! Another new experience, as will be your Thanksgiving meal. Hope you enjoy it - and we're looking forward to hearing more about it soon. Nice pose there, Hugh....who's your friend again?

You have already cooked your first Thanksgiving meal ? Yes, I agree, a 5 kg turkey is small for US standards.
They usually buy the bigger birds.
One of my memories of Thanksgiving is of my Mom preparing the turkey from early moring on.
I loved the parade photos. The float at the end reminds me of the Macy's Thanksgiving parade in NYC.
Yes, those darn Irish & Scots are everywhere ;)
