The inner courtyard and the ruins:
The view from the courtyard towards the North Sea. The small island on the left is Bass Rock, a bird reserve. It was at some point the home of a hermit, and was also used by the military in the past. People also used to be imprisoned out there...
Another outing took us to the Royal Botanical Gardens in Edinburgh. There is a Victorian house in the middle of the place which often shows contemporary art exhibitions.
From the house, there is also a beautiful view over Edinburgh's city centre:
