Tantallon Castle and Botanic Gardens

Today, a couple of pictures from Tantallon Castle, which I visited with my sister last week. It is situated right by the sea, about 30 miles east of Edinburgh. It is a rather impressive place, because the ruins stand right at the top of the cliff. Nice to visit on a sunny day in March, especially as there was hardly anyone else around.

The view from the courtyard towards the North Sea. The small island on the left is Bass Rock, a bird reserve. It was at some point the home of a hermit, and was also used by the military in the past. People also used to be imprisoned out there...



Another outing took us to the Royal Botanical Gardens in Edinburgh. There is a Victorian house in the middle of the place which often shows contemporary art exhibitions.
