First Texan things...

I stopped the last post with the moment when we entered the apartment, so here are a few details about the place! It is in an apartment complex near the Galleria, a huge shopping centre (which I have already visited, obviously!). The complex is gated, has a pool and a fitness centre, and is generally really quite pleasant.

The apartment itself feels big and airy. It is larger than our Edinburgh flat, with a huge open-plan kitchen/dining room/lounge, a large bedroom and large bathroom (with double sinks, as obviously you can't expect two people to share a sink!). Oh, and of course 2 walk-in closets (mine's enormous!! I had wanted one of those for ages!). The apartment is fully equipped, from the fat American fridge and large cooker with monstrous oven, to a modem and fake plants here and there...

The cats absolutely love it as they have loads of space to run around and get lots of grip on the carpet!

And finally, a few more funny things for us Europeans...

-the freezer makes its own ice and stocks it in an ice tray. It senses when you take some and makes more! All of a sudden you hear a noise coming from the freezer, and that's your new ice cubes falling into their tray!
-the cooker and oven are enormous, you could cook a 10kg turkey quite easily in there (this is a 2-people apartment, remember?).
-the washer-drier is a monster hidden in a cupboard, with a very funny way of working (more on this soon).
