A new day, a new post, and a new car for me!

A quick update on the latest news!

Yesterday Hugh drove me to Hobby airport (south of the city centre; it's not the main airport) to collect the rental car he had booked for me. Here it is, it's little (by American standards) Dodge Caliber (about the size of a 4-door Ford Focus):

I was pretty terrified at the idea of driving, but I somehow managed to follow H back to the apartment without too much trouble, even though we did take the freeway (scary!!). And today I went out in my little car to a few places and didn't even get lost!

Late afternoon yesterday, Georgia drove me to the Heights (an area north of the downtown) to view a house which sounded good on paper and looked absolutely AMAZING inside (it's brand new)... Of course it was too good to be true... The 'outside' space turned out to be a tiny tiny courtyard which looked absolutely rubbish and housed the air-conditioning unit, and the house was too close to the freeway (you could hear it from the front bedroom). Anyway, this is what it looked like from the outside:

And this is the outdoor space... as you can see, it's rubbish! And it's also the view from the kitchen...The street looked like this - the Heights is a very old district with little streets, trees, old wooden houses and brand new constructions in the Victorian style. It is an area that used to be not so good but is on the up at present, with lots of new constructions going up.
