Back to work...

Finally back in the office today... aaawwww isn't it nice to spend the day somewhere with power AND internet?? I'm going to stay a little bit longer, don't fancy going home to darkness and an empty fridge (this is going to be another Scrabble evening). Last night we spent the evening at the cinema, where we saw "Burn after reading", a kind of spoof spy film, it's a good story and pretty funny too! Recommended if you're out of power too!

And as I have time AND internet, here are some more photos from Alaska... These were taken during the 2 days we spent in Nome, a remote frontier town in the north west, only accessible by plane (a 2-hour flight from Fairbanks). It was the kind of plane where they ask you how much you (and not just your bag) weigh before you board!
An edge-of-the world kind of feeling out there (it's near the Bering Strait)... a place frozen solid half the year, yet with a quite a few tourists in the middle of summer. The Germans come to see the birds apparently!
In Nome you can dine in an Italian restaurant run by Koreans, have a 'Subway' sandwich right by the Pacific Ocean and look for gold on the beach. We rented a 4x4 to explore the 3 roads that lead from Nome to 3 very remote communities. No luck seeing the reindeer herd that roams the countryside, but beautiful scenery and an experience to remember.

Au final, il y a toujours de l'électricité pour le travail...pas pour la maison ! Life is unfair !
