More post-Ike news

Still typing on the blackberry, so no photos yet, but we are doing ok. No electricity, don't know when it will be back, but maybe wednesday. Cycled around our area this afternoon, there are tree debris everywhere, and big trees down, but people are already very much in the orocess of cleaning up. Had dinner at a friend's this evening (she has power!), then had to be back before the curfew. There is now a city-wide curfew between 9pm and 6am, partly to deter looters and partly to avoid accidents as there are trees down everywhere and no street lights. My friend also lent us a cooler box so we have stored some food in it, which I'll cook in the morning to make it last longer. This said, some stores have reopened so we can find food anyway.

By the way, our rain gauge indicates that we got 25cm of rain on the night from friday to saturday, and then another 22cm last night!! No wonder the street filled up!

We are now sitting at the dining room table, with the battery-operated radio on and candles! Do leave us comments, we can check them on my blackberry :-)
